People with disabilities with the daughter of honorable chairman of Bangladesh National Party (BNP) Mr Tarique Rahman Barrister Ms Zaima Rahman and life experience sharing meeting in Dhaka

Under leadership of BPKS founder Mr. Abdus Sattar Dulal, a group of 25 young people with diverse disabilities, meeting with Barrister Ms Zaima Rahman, the daughter of honorable chairman of Bangladesh National Party (BNP) Mr. Tarique Rahman held a two-hour life experience sharing meeting in Dhaka on 3 February 2026. Barrister Zaima Rahman is extremely kind, approachable, and attentive throughout the meeting. She listened to concerns of Persons with Disabilities with full concentration and genuine interest and she is agreed with all points. Barrister Zaima said, you know best how to make sure your opportunities are available in country, so your participation is important in all areas.
During the discussion, representatives with disabilities raised a wide range of issues concerning persons with disabilities, including our meaningful participation in policymaking and decision-making processes; inclusion in local government, commissions, parliament, and political structures; and access to health, education, agriculture, vocational training, and professional skills development.
Representatives with disabilities also discussed the empowerment of women with disabilities; access to essential services; physical and digital accessibility; employment opportunities; information and communication technologies; sports, culture, recreation, and tourism; access to religious institutions; and the harmonization of existing laws and policies in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).
In addition, representatives with disabilities highlighted the role and strengthening of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), the allocation of a national budget for OPDs, housing issues, and other key concerns affecting persons with disabilities in Bangladesh.
The meeting was constructive and encouraging, and representatives with disabilities appreciate the openness and commitment shown by Barrister Zaima Rahman in engaging with disability-related issues. More than 50 media covered the meeting. Here is some link and photos.
